We now have more time to comment on the dSGEIS, but even having another month isn’t enough – the document we’re commenting on is over 800 pages long.

The role of the DEC must be, FIRST, DO NO HARM. The gas has been there for millions of years; it’s not going anywhere! We need a moratorium until the EPA study is done!
The long term cleanliness of water is more important than the short term economic benefits of gas drilling. In face the long term economic benefits of clean water outweigh the economic benefits of gas. The gas companies have a lot of $ to throw around to sway this — but they are the only ones who make the profit! The land and the local economy suffer in the long run.
Do the math and stop this before it starts!
There is no hurry other than the greed of the companies doing the extracting. Let’s not make another huge ecological mistake.
I have just started a detailed review of the effects of the effluent of the proposed drilling operation on the endocrine system in humans. This takes time and consideration. The deadline is way too early. Many of these problems can be passed along in future generations – or infertility can prevent future generations.
What a great addition! We should all remind others of Adam Law’s comment above. As an endocrinologist, he is an important aspect that has not specifically been emphasized sufficiently.
Thank you Dr. Law…..
we need more time – don’t let the drilling companies run roughshod over us
Folks, please make sure you’re commenting using the links above, not just commenting here on Shaleshock.org – the DEC needs to hear your thoughts too! Sign the petition HERE and click HERE for info on how to submit comments to the DEC.
