Trainings, Trainings, Trainings!

As a movement and social network, Shaleshock has an incredible wealth of skills and knowledge and experience. An emerging project is a listing of available trainings, workshops, presentations, speakers for events, documentaries, and outreach materials for Community Organizing and Action in regards to Unconventional Gas Drilling. Actually, in regards to any threat to our health and community. So here’s what’s going on now:

Shaleshock 101 class is developing into a huge success. We combine a comprehensive curriculum about the gas industry with a hands on approach to community organizing. More info about that here. In the past, folks involved with the Shaleshock Movement have organized various trainings. Topics have included corporate research, media messaging, movement strategy, meeting facilitation, civil disobedience, listening projects. Along with trainings has been consistently well attended public forums. These bring together engineers, chemists, geologists, etc… (folks with lots of experience in their field) to discuss the risks of gas drilling and bring information and concerns into the spotlight.

In the past few weeks, requests have come to shaleshockoutreach@gmail.com from Pittsburgh, Binghamton, and Syracuse for speakers and trainings. This confirms that there’s a need for a movement-wide listing of skills, trainings, and presentations. With such a listing, groups and individuals around the Marcellus Region could easily access resources to organize action in their community.

Please e-mail shaleshockoutreach@gmail.com if you have a workshop, presentation, training, etc…  We’ve got our foundation, now lets build!
