I see this a yet another “dawn in America” propaganda piece for industry.  The “debate” is framed as a difference of opinion between complete energy independence versus, well, maybe we’ll still feel price spikes, but it won’t be nearly as bad as what we’ve been experiencing.  At the very end, cover is provided by an opposing view that the real economic engine for the U.S. is with renewable energy technologies, but the damage has already been done, and this plays right in to the “here and now” vesus “maybe in the future” arguments that industry is comfortable with.
