Ithaca High School World Affairs (IHSWA)
Ithaca High Schools World Affairs Club aims to get informed and involved on local and global issues that interest the group and are pertinent. We split our meeting time between a local issue of choice and a global issue researched by a member of the group. We also try to attend local meetings as well as assemblies and put on work shops to inform youth around Ithaca about important world issues.
Currently we are putting on an open panel at IHS aiming at informing the youth around Ithaca about fracking from both perspectives. We will have representatives from the Friends of Natural gas side, as well as those from the anti-fracking side. We will also have questions directed at both sides as well as a time for those who attend to ask questions regarding fracking.
We plan on attending Power Shift New York in the spring, which we are currently raising money to do. Also we will having a fracking movie night sometime in March and an open discussion afterwards.
