We need even MORE time! Sign the petition to ask for another extension on the DEC comment period

We now have more time to comment on the dSGEIS, but even having another month isn’t enough – the document we’re commenting on is over 800 pages long.

Sign the petition to ban natural gas drilling

Due to the inherent danger of un-natural gas drilling and the potentially massive impact on our local rural communities, the authors of this petition are calling for a complete ban on drilling in low permeable stone deposits in New York State. Sign Gennaro's petition to stop drilling in NY's watershed

Right now New York City faces one of the biggest threats ever to the purity of its water. Gas companies want to drill for natural gas in the shale surrounding NYC’s reservoirs. If this drilling occurs, contamination to NYC’s water will force the City to build water filtration plants, costing between $10-20 billion.

The link below leads to Councilman James F. Gennaro’s online petition calling for a ban on gas drilling in the NYC drinking water supply watershed and other New York watershed areas. It is in the form of a letter addressed to Governor Paterson.
